Sony’s PS-HX500 turntable is an ideal investment for audiophiles who want to experience their record collection at the highest audio quality at home as well as on-the-go. This turntable can be connected to a traditional stereo system as well as your laptop or desktop computer thanks to the dual analog and USB outputs. When connected to a computer, you can record your vinyl albums in high-resolution audio to create a digital archive of your collection that can be transferred to portable digital media players or backed-up to a cloud storage service. To ensure the best audio output from the source, the PS-HX500 is made of high-quality material and utilizes cutting edge analog technology to minimize vibrations and distortions in playback. The turntable also offers fully automatic operation with 33 1/3 and 45 RPM speed settings so it will play any record in your collection regardless of if it’s an LP or an EP.

Archive Your Vinyl Collection in Hi-Res Audio
The PS-HX500 comes with software that can be installed on a PC or Mac that allows you to rip audio files of your record collection when the turntable is connected to a computer via its USB port. The audio files are recorded in high-resolution audio so you can transfer them to a portable digital media player and enjoy your records as they’re meant to sound even when you’re out jogging. Backing up your collection digitally also serves as a way to ensure you’ll always have access to your vinyl albums even if something happens to the physical records. Once you’ve created an archive you can back it up to an external hard drive or cloud storage service for safekeeping.

DSD (Direct Stream Digital)
Co-developed for High-Resolution Audio by Sony and Philips, the companies behind the original CD format, DSD (Direct Stream Digital) offers a revolutionary way of capturing and playing back audio. Unlike the conventional PCM format, a 1-bit DSD audio stream more closely represents the nature of an analog audio waveform. The result is all the advantages of digital audio, including a frequency response above 100 kHz, and ample dynamic range, but with the natural sound of an analog recording. The far less complex capture and decoding process results in audio with an immense sense of space and ultimate representation of an artist’s original vision.

Cutting Edge Digital and Analog Technology
The PS-HX500 is designed with the latest digital and analog technologies to ensure the best audio recreation possible. The tonearm features a shell design that stabilizes the cartridge to deliver a life-like sound. The tonearm also balances the stylus in such a way that it minimizes audio distortions from wow and flutter. The entire construction of the turntable is designed to eliminate distortion-causing vibrations, as well. The belt drive is stabilized with a pulley system, the cabinet is made from acoustic-grade MDF wood, and rubber dampers on the bottom of the cabinet prevent unwanted resonance and absorb vibrations from outside sources. The internal circuit board is made of a glass epoxy material helps provide better sound quality and stability, too.

8/10 trade-in unit. All functions have been tested, and works properly. Some slight scratches on the dustcover, and table itself, but presents well, and is sonically perfect.
