Teac UD-501

This TEAC UD-501 DAC has been in my system for the past six years.  It is that versatile, and that good, that even while I've changed speakers, power amps, preamps, cords, etc. many times over the TEAC has always remained in my system.  But there always comes a time to try something new, and that time is now for me....

The unit functions flawlessly and is cosmetically in very good condition. It is six years old, so it shows the minor signs of use you might expect.  Nothing major, but there is a small nick in the top of the casing - I've shown the nick with a penny next to it so you get a sense of how small it is.  Everything else looks good.

If you know this DAC, you already know that it will play almost any high-res file you throw at it (except MQA).

Will include original packing and a standard issue power cord (I recommend upgrading to a better cord for improved results).

The TEAC UD-501 supports file playback of cutting edge DSD 5.6MHz and PCM32bit/384kHz, inviting the listener into an uncharted territories that haven't been heard yet. It supports, of course, DSD 2.8MHz and PCM 192kHz file formats, so you can enjoy audio listening without having to worry about the format. The "UD-501" not only supports high-resolution file playback, but it is also equipped with the ability to adjust the playback environment to better suit the preferences of the listener. A selectable digital filter and as well as being equipped with DSD analog filter, it is also available with an ON/OFF up-conversion function.

The audio circuit we use has a long following history of audio circuit design technology. Composed with a Dual Monaural to prevent the interference of the left and right channels, above all that, of course, it is configured with BurrBrown PCM1795 on each channel, and it is adopted with the so-called MUSES8920 special audio design. In order to provide a stable power supply of the audio circuit, the power supply unit is also adapted with a structure in which more than a conventional machine is deployed. Equipped with a toroidal core transformer, 2 groups has been configured to separate the power of the left and right channels, having also through the Dual Monaural configuration in the power supply unit.
