1 meter pair of MG Audio Design Planus CU2 (copper ribbon) interconnect cables

For sale is a 1 meter pair of MG Audio Design Planus CU2 interconnect cables with locking RCA plugs on both ends. These high quality copper ribbon cables are some of the best sounding cables you can purchase. They are in excellent condition and have been used only in my non-smoker studio.

List Price is $700

My Selling price is $450 (I’ll pay the UPS ground shipping cost from me to you plus the PayPal fee and Agon listing fee)

These cables outperform numerous cables at many times their cost and are my absolute favorite. They are extremely flexible since they’re made out of silver foil. These are easy to place behind any equipment. I have an extra pair of these RCA cables and I really don’t have a need for this pair hence this sale.

They are in great condition with no cosmetic flaws, have only been a non-smoker environment, and are in an excellent working condition (at least an 8 out of 10 if not better).

This MG Audio Design CU2 RCA interconnect pair will bring your system's performance to a whole new level. The images in the soundstage will be better defined and more palpable, the bass will be tighter, deeper, and offer better definition of the harmonic structure. The low level information retrieval will have you listening to your audio system for hours on end without a need to add silver cables to the mix.

MG Audio started as a Colorado company run by an engineer and a musician. It designs cables based on the principles of physics, but the ultimate judge of quality is listening. I’ve tried a huge number of expensive cables in my high-end audio system and these are the ABSOLUTE BEST - either the AG2 (silver) or CU2 (copper) versions!

Their design is focused on minimizing capacitive, inductive and skin effects that inevitably color the sound of all cables. The minimization of these factors is especially critical with low-level signals where loss of high frequency information and phase response is magnified.

MG Audio designs cables based on physics and good engineering practice, not voodoo. The result of this design is that you can hear more clearly into the musical performance, catch details you have never heard before, and better capture the emotional expression of the artist.

Reviews:

Marvin Bolden shared on stereo mojo that “THESE ARE THE BEST DAMN CABLES I HAVE HAD IN MY SYSTEM” - he has reviewed a ton of cables over the years and knows what he’s talking about. Then Brian Boehler at stereo mojo stated that “There is a level of transparency and clarity which provides a window into the musical landscape that is greater than other cables I have heard”.

I was able to sample all of the MGAudio Design cables in my high-end system. My bottom line was that the Planus III copper ribbon speakers cables and the CUII copper ribbon interconnects sounded best together. I found that adding only 1 silver interconnect (their AGII RCA cables) was all that could be handled well by my system.

Any more than one silver cable and the system was out of balance and too bright. I ended up purchasing a pair of copper Planus III speaker cables, one CUII copper interconnect pair, and one AGII silver interconnect pair.

Here’s the MGAudio Design description from their website:

Planus CU2 interconnect is a reference level wire for those who do not like or cannot use silver in their systems. It gives most of the detail of our silver interconnects, but retains the warmth and organic qualities of copper.

Our newest copper cable, Planus CU2 replaces both Planus HB and Planus CU in our line of interconnects. Based on customer feedback, we needed to develop a wire that came closer to the performance of Planus AG but still provided the organic qualities to the music that copper provides. The previous Planus HB came close to the performance of our silver wire, but still had the silver sheen that some listeners thought too forward or that did not fit well in already analytic systems.

Planus CU2 uses a slightly different geometry compared to Planus CU to achieve better retrieval of low-level detail and a more palpable soundstage presentation compared to the original Planus CU. CU2 achieves about 90% of the low-level detail retrieval and soundstage palpability of Planus AG, but allows the warmth/organic qualities of music to better come through. In comparing CU2 to AG, you will note two major differences.

The leading edge on CU2 is not quite as pronounced as it is with AG. Also, on good live recordings such as Jazz At The Pawnshop, CU2 does not capture the ambience of the performance venue quite as well as AG. The differences between AG and CU2, however, are subtle and allow the listener to “tune” a system that might otherwise be too forward or aggressive if AG were used .

Planus CU2 is now available and can be purchased in either single-ended or balanced configurations. Our standard lengths are 1 meter and 1.5 meters. CU2 is not shielded (like the rest of our wires), so 1.5 meters will be the longest single ended interconnect we will build.
