A sweet spot in the Audio Research line...31-step attenuator, switched "direct" input that bypasses all controls
except gain, and this is the B version with balanced output.  It's in outstanding working and cosmetic condition The '8' rating is conservative.

in his review, Martin Colloms wrote: “Make no mistake, this is an
audiophile-quality line preamplifier. One of the best, at close to
budget-price levels. I would vote Class A for this one – and not just
