This is a really nice pair of Joule Elctra VZN-100 MKIII 100W OTL Monoblock amps with unique custom Variac power unit with custom umbilical cables. The custom Variaic was fabricated/built by me for the previous owner a couple of years ago. It consists of the maple hardwood enclosure painted gloss black to match the main amp chassis and it built with all premium components (Furutech IEC socket & female IEC and Schurter male IEC connectors) and ALL connections to IEC sockets/plugs are soldered (NOT crimped/screw) and the umbilicals are made up of about $1,400 worth of JPS Labs Kaptovator Lite power cord cable. This made a definite upgrade in clarity, dynamics, and lower background noise for the amps.  We have given the amps a thorough checkup/test and they are in perfect working order. Performance is typical for this era of VZN-100 (great sound, but not these are not the most quiet amps background noise wise - I would NOT hook them up to a very high efficiency speaker). On my 89/90db efficient VSMs (what else would I use :-P) they sound great and I can only hear some low level buzz/noise when standing near the speakers. They come with a complete set of tubes which all check out good and one spare 6C33.

I've known these amps since new as their original owner is a local customer for their first 10 -12 years (these amps where made in 2003), and the 2nd owner who has had them up to now is also a long time customer from NJ. The amps have not been shipped around as well as either I arranged delivery in person by me or the owner brought the amps to me in person for upgrade and/or repair.

Service wise, these amps have seen some work over the years. Mainly, replacing a number of the small pushbutton switches in the amps that are used to check bias settings. These amps have complete factory packaging and can be safely shipped - 4 boxes total. Please contact for shipping prices, but figure around $200 to $250 to ship everything. If you want to come pick them up though, you are welcome to do so!

Condition wise, they are very good for a pair of 19 year old amps .These amps have no footers on them. There are three holes on the bottom of each amp where a cone or some other type of footer can be installed. These amps do NOT have the kind of hours that one would think for their age as well based on my knowledge of the owners of these amps.

With the music wood enclosure option, these amps retailed for $18,000 back in 2004! The custom Varaic upgrade was around $2,000 as well. For $5,500 you are getting some pretty magical sounding amps - a great value.
