History...

The McIntosh MR-71 Tube Tuner was in production form 1963 to 1969. This was the last tube tuner they manufactured. Regarded as one of the best tuners McIntosh ever made. I believe it has 12 Tubes...

Purchased from the Original owner just a few months ago. The gentleman had it playing for Twenty straight in his music shop and it just died he did not want to deal wth the repair bill and such . I knew my folks here at Hi-Tech Electronics could brighten back to life as new in its operation and they did !

I have never purchased a DOA Component in my like but this McIntosh MR-71 Tube Tuner was in such pristine as new condition I could not resist as an "Addicted Audiophile I wanted to save this beautiful kept piece of McIntosh History alive as to pass it on to a fellow like minded Audiophile.

As the photos will show here this McIntosh Tuner is basically flawless cosmetically as well the Original Slanted Leg Wooden Cabinet made especially for this model is in very fine condition for its age with only a few cosmetic blemishes.

All the Chrome and metal housing is as New not one spec of rust, pitting of tarnish. The Front Glass is in stunning condition as well. All of the lettering and paint is in pristine condition,

The folks at Hi-Tech Electronics here in NYC were speechless when they saw the components condition. Since returning from being Fully Serviced with a new 6ae8 tube as well an Alignment and all integral parts of the Tuner were benched checked . Any re-soldering that was needed was also done as per their General Service .

It has been back in one of my systems playing the Tuning is spot on all the light bright and operating. The sound is pure and portrays both music and dialogue in the purest way a tube tuner is meant to. The MR-71 is on the list of "Most Desired" Legendary AudioPhile Tuners...
