Stax Lambda Nova Signature and SRM-T1

Stax Lambda Nova Signature and SRM-T1 amplifier.

I am the second
owner of this earspeaker/amplifier combination. It was my first EBAY
purchase ever in 1998 so I have happily owned it for 23 years and never
thought I would part with it. The first owner was a dentist who already
had an Orpheus and just wanted to see if he preferred Stax; he didn’t.
Over the decades it has seen some years when I listened often and other
years when I didn’t listen at all. But it’s safe to say that it has had
several thousand hours of use.

Like many others I replaced the
headband once when it broke in half. Small cosmetic defects on the
SRM-T1 case cover consistent with age and light use (see photos). The
foam is gone on the inside of the earspeakers but that always happens
with age. No indication (audible or otherwise) that any foam particles
have been deposited on the membrane.

I’m still using the original
stock tubes because they sound great! These are Gold Aero 6CG7/6FQ7
“specially selected for Stax Signature”. I bought two sets of spare
tubes (included in the sale) but never found the need to do a switch.
These are VIVA (matched pair) and International (unknown if matched
pair). The Gold Aero Stax Signature tubes are extremely rare. I would
have bought those for spares but I could never find them.

Selling
because I discovered the Blue Hawaii Special Edition and Stax 009S. At
10 times the price they ought to sound better than the LNS+T1 – and they
do.
