The unit has 4 inputs: 3 single ended(Line 1, 2, 3) and 1 XLR. Line 3 is set to unity gain. It's the processor bypass input. You do need to turn the unit on and set the input to Line 3 but at that point the Zanden volume is completely out of the circuit. The cool thing is you can use XLR in and XLR out while still having a single ended processor bypass. Or you can go single ended or XLR in and single ended out while still having a single ended processor bypass.
2 months old. I haven't even sent in the warranty card. Great unit. Works perfectly. I work in sales and had an unexpected windfall and decided to get an MSB Reference DAC and use its preamp module instead. Saves me a shelf to have the DAC and pre-amp in one box. Also selling a Merging ST-2 BTW. Absolutely no stories. Have the Zanden box, instruction manual and remote. It does not come with a power cord. I can include a generic one if you like.
