Soundsmith Strain Gauge SG-200 with three sg-6 styluses

Soundsmith SG-200 Strain Gauge Cartridge system with 3 (three) SG-6 Nude “Optimized Contour” Contact Line/Ruby Cantilever styluses.

 

Purchased directly from Soundsmith in 2018 but it has been in storage for more than 18 months while I waited for a new home to be completed. In my new home my vinyl collection is now used by multiple friends/family members and this cartridge is not practical for use in that environment so I have not set it up here. 

 

Read the reviews, My assessment is that it is a clean and articulate cartridge revealing all that is in the groove without euphonics. Having said that, it is not at all sterile. Solid bass, realistic vocals and clear highs with no stridency.

 

PLEASE NOTE: This stylus does require a table with a tonearm that has adjustable VTA/SRA in my opinion. I followed Soundsmith (aka Peter Ledermann) advice and heard very audible differences with proper setup. This was used with a SME turntable and arm.

 

The installed SG-6 stylus has less than 250 hours on it and the two additional SG-6 styluses matched to the cartridge are new and unused. I will gladly answer any questions and include the original purchase receipts with the sale. 

I also have a dual regulated power supply I purchased to to replace the wall wart power supplies that I will include if the buyer wishes to pay shipping. I could hear no difference between this supply and the wall warts.
