I'm going to list a number of DACs, Transports, & S/PDIF Cables so please look at my other items. Here we have what was certainly the pinnacle of Digital to Analog Converters; the Mark Levinson No. 36 DAC. This unit functions perfectly and has a multitude of input types. I am unable to test the ST Optical input but I have used the AES/EBU XLR, RCA S/PDIF, Toslink, & BNC inputs and they work great. I highly recommend using BNC input. I have the original double box and packing as well. The manual is online as a PDF but I'd be happy to print it out for you. It accepts sample rates of 33, 44.1, & 48Khz. Did you know most cable/satellite boxes output 48Khz? This can be used for far more than just a CD Transport and here I am using it on my PC computers S/PDIF output at 48Khz. I also picture it with the Audio Alchemy DDSIII Player/Transport which will be sold separately. There is a remote available for this unit but I do not have one. You know the name and the legendary status of this brand. Yes, it weighs 36lbs and feels almost like a solid block. Fit and finish are of course excellent. This unit had some scuffs on one side and one on the top which I have touched up but picture each surface here. Therefore I only rate the condition as a 7 but the front is immaculate as is the rear.
Appearance is secondary to sound quality and this model has few peers. Look up some reviews but I will tell you that this has the most outstanding, natural, and organic sound you can imagine. Where it is unmatched by every competitor imho is in the low end. It has bass to die for! I love it but have moved on to a USB DAC with DSD. The one foible is the location of the IEC AC socket. I am providing a new right-angle IEC cord for the US but honestly, it still exceeds the height of the feet so you see I picture it on Black Diamond Racing cones which I recommend but are not included. This does support many different voltages but the setting is internal and recommended to be changed only by the factory. Currently, it uses 120VAC.
It has many features, please refer to the manual but you can custom name inputs, dim or disable the front display and it has a Digital Output as well. I am a music lover and audio professional. I've been selling high-end audio gear since about 1997 (Ebay) my feedback is nearly 1000 positives. I am happy to answer questions and I will ship whatever carrier you want but Fedex is recommended. UPS has destroyed several items of mine already. I guarantee this unit is in perfect operating condition and if you have critical hearing facilities at all and a decent system you will be delighted.
