Finally back  from Guru Audio in Sweden where they upgraded the drivers and crossovers to current Q10 specifications.

The original QM 10 was a strange looking but great performing little monitor. Rather quite expensive upon introduction  given its diminutive size and relatively unknown origin.  Apparently right after the original QM10 was released Guru went to work to improve an already well thought of speaker as far as reviews would show. The QM10 Two was born.  I purchased these original QM10’s as I liked the flat black non glossy finish that they originally were offered and in typically short order figured these are awesome speakers so the QM10 Two must be even better but to my surprise the people at Guru were just as restless.

“The original QM10 mk I was extremely well received by media and it gained multiple five star reviews when we introduced it in New York in may 2007. Even though we were very happy with this product, we started working on new drivers pretty much immediately upon launch.

After three years of development, we introduced QM10two, with two new drivers and an updated crossover network, this upgrade took the Guru QM10 experience to a whole new level. The tweeter was completely redesigned and is flat to above 30kHz. The updated woofer only shared the magnet system with the previous version. The new mineral fibre cone would allow for the speakers to be played louder and to handle more abuse.

The latest iteration “Q10” is upgraded and is even better with lower distortion and better overall performance.”

So, These  here QM10’s were sent all the way to Sweden late last February  and after a long long long time at Guru Audio and some $500 later...was not a fast process but upgrade was executed flawlessly.
 I had to cover shipping to Upsalla . Have Visa receipt to indicate time frame of upgrade payment and as to the cost of the Q10 upgrade. 
They eventually made there way  back to the United States in a new Q10 carton with brand new drivers and crossovers and are now the current latest greatest specification Guru Q10’s which are currently going for 22000 KR.  ($2586 USD) plus  Shipping fee  from Sweden.
The actual speaker cabinet design and materials have  not changed since introduction with only the added option of Gloss finishes now limited I believe to White and a shade they consider Blue which is the box they chose for return of speakers to me in the states.
The flat finish on these is nice and durable and adds an industrial professional monitor vibe.

“Originally designed for professional use, the aim for Q10 was to make a monitor that captures, or rather recreates the whole event taking place on a music recording (or any other source of sound), timbrally accurate, in time and in space. Achieving that isn’t a matter of adding a lot of subjectively “positive things” – a colour is a colour, even when it’s a nice one, and we don’t want to add colors.

The QM10 bass driver helps producing rock solid bass down to 30Hz, and the key factor is the long and linear stroke, and even more so the incredible pressure factor, exceeding that of a typical 15″ driver with a factor of more than three.
Choice of membrane is essential to both midrange quality and lateral inter driver integration. The mineral fibre membrane of the Guru B59mf-driver assures a perfectly controlled behaviour in it’s entire working range, and it is actually also adding an essential part of the stereo system compensation above it’s nominal working range.

Timbrally and dynamically accurate sound reproduction in time and space is all about adapting to the listening room properties and avoiding and / or compensating for the inherent flaws of the stereo system – all done with respect to our hearing properties. These little speakers offer surprising sonic performance especially given their size and don't leave you feeling you are missing anything in the frequency response or musical performance experience.
Lots of great reviews  of early two versions and the improved Q10 model is a variation on the clearly better QM10 Two   I believe Guru never really had great distribution dealer network in the United States nor are they a bargain for such an odd looking little speaker. All in I have over 3K in these speakers and with the non-organic wear resistant cabinets and brand new drivers and crossovers you are getting a virtually new pair of speakers.
