Fully restored cream color Garrard 301 oil bearing Turntable in Woodsong Audio plinth.
Prior to my purchase of the 'table a year ago, the previous owner previously had a complete overhaul done by Classic Turntable Company(CTC) in England, which included an upgrade to an aftermarket bearing and heavy gunmetal platter.
Upon purchase, I had the 'table shipped directly to Woodsong Audio who built an absolutely gorgeous "Industrial" model plinth.
The veneer is truly stunning and pictures do not do it justice, but a better representation than in my photos at Woodsong Audio's website.
The tonearm board is currently drilled out for a 12" arm with a 290mm Pivot-to-Spindle distance, but any "SME" type 12" tonearm should work in it's place.
Additional tonearm boards can be ordered from Woodsong Audio for a nominal cost.
Woodsong Audio performed thorough maintenance to ensure the 'table was running perfectly, including the installation of a new Idler Wheel. I have the paperwork for the maintenance if required.
Woodsong Audio also installed a set of IsoAcoustics footers on the plinth (and yes, they do make a huge difference)
Includes original spare Garrard bearing.
I have all necessary double boxing to ship the 'table and plinth safely, however I would really prefer a local pickup or meeting the buyer within a reasonable distance of the Bay Area.

| How much does the platter weigh?
It seems to be oversize, how does that affect performance (controls, run-out)? The oversize platter weighs 7 lbs. 10 oz.
I'm not sure how this compares to the original platter weight.
I am also not sure how to answer your question(s) regarding performance.
The 'table, as specified in the description, runs flawlessly.
It has no trouble getting up to speed or stopping, both of which are near instantaneous.
There is some debate as to whether the added weight of the platter improves the "flywheel effect" but having never had an original platter to compare this to I'm not in a position to comment.
For what it's worth Woodsong Audio indicated that this platter was relatively light compared to some of the other after-market heavy platters and that neither the upgraded nor original bearing will have any issues driving it. |
