Up for sale is an AcousTech PH-1 phono preamp, designed by Ron Sutherland. Capable of both MM and MC operation, so it is compatible with about any cartridge you might have in mind. Mode of operation is selected by moving a set of jumpers located inside the unit, just remove the three screws on each side of the unit to access them. Also worth noting, this is a large and relatively heavy preamp not like some of the small box phono preamps with wall wart external power supplies that are becoming more common. This power supply design with multiple RC (Resistor/Capacitor) stages eliminates noise and gives you the blackest background possible.
Default MM settings are 42 db gain, 47k ohms resistance load, and 220 pF capacitance. Default MC settings are 61.5 db gain, 100 ohms resistance load, and 10,000 pF capacitance.
The unit works & sounds wonderful. This was Stereophile Class A rated back in the day. Many reviews out on the web. Cosmetically, just some minor wear marks, the condition is rated conservatively. Made in he USA.
