This listing is for a vintage Marantz Model 8 vacuum tube stereo amplifier. This item has been tested and is in complete operational condition. Both channels are clean and clear with no hum, buzz, noise, or distortion. At idle when placing your ear near the drivers all you hear is a slight tube rush from the tweeters no hum. IME this is rare especially for a 60 year old amplifier. This is an excellent working example. This was the personal amplifier of the owner of a film soundtrack production studio that was in business for decades. This has been maintained for its lifetime and when it required service it was professionally done. Inside chassis very clean appears mostly original with only some electrical component replacement.

I have been using this amplifier on and off for the past two years and find no faults. I use it periodically with a McIntosh C34V preamplifier and B&W 802 Nautilus speakers. Just a joy to listen to. The power tubes are vintage European AEG EL34 that are operating very well. Two of the power tubes have the socket alignment pins broken off so you will need to be extra carful when reinstalling them. The other four tubes are vintage type RCA clear top 6CG7 and Westinghouse 6BH6 they have some miles on them but the sound is exceptional. The adjustable bias system and meter are working perfectly. The power cord has cracks in the outer jacket but it is not shorting, the internal wiring is still covered. There are three screws missing on the speaker wire terminals but there are enough to connect. I do not have the tube cage.

Cosmetic condition is good. The paint shows some wear around the corners and some scratches and marks but overall it is very decent especially for 60 years old and compared to others I have seen. The camera flash extenuates this, in normal lighting it is much less noticeable. This is physically clean with no dirt or nicotine contamination.
