I purchased this Denon DCD-A100 from its first owner two
years ago, and it was my daily driver until recently. It replaced a Marantz
SA-8004 and there was no looking back. It plays SACD's and CD's reliably and
wonderfully. It is is in beautiful condition, with no scratches except a few
very light ones near the USB port on the lower right hand side of the
faceplate. (They are the only reason this is rated "Good" rather than something better.) The finish is piano black with light sparkles.
It's worth reading up on Denon's AL32 Processing, if you haven't done so
already. AL32 Processing upsamples redbook CD's to 32-bits, resulting in a
more-analog-like sound that significantly closes the gap with SACD's. It will
make you question whether you absolutely must have that SACD that sells for $80
on Discogs, if it can be found at all.
A feature not found on more recent models is that the DCD-A100 can be used as a
DAC, bypassing the transport. Its internal DAC is high-quality--worth
researching if you're interested.
The remote is a nice piece of design, with a brushed aluminum finish, metal
buttons, and some heft.
I will ship the Denon in its original box, protected by foam inside another
box.
