Counterpoint SA-4

Very rare in this condition, very desirable. A fully serviced pair of stunning 140 watt per channel Counterpoint SA-4 mono blocs. In really nice condition, one amp had issues, so, both amps were serviced by OTL expert George Kaye. They are different serial numbers but have been bought up to identical specs. On my Quad 57’s they are breathtaking in tonality, weight and dimension.  I will supply them with 10 spare 6LF6 output tubes. (25 on eBay right now) two fuses and the Counterpoint original manual and schematics. Bias is set using front meter and knob. That are sold as is in full working condition. They will be boxed and shipped on a small pallet so no shipping damage will occur. Fully insured and via UPS freight at my discounted rate. 1. Find service literature 2. Troubleshoot the amps. 3. Replaced 6FS5 tube that was out of spec 4. Replaced Servo op amp TL082 5. Replaced current sense resistors with 1% non inductive resistors in screen regulator circuits in defective amp. 6. Align amp: Set output bias, center servo range 7. Test all tubes and label tubes for idle current and peak current capacity under OTL conditions*. The extra tubes that were supplied were new and showed typical new tube variations in both readings. The tubes that came in the one amp showed signs of wear but were still useable. The tubes in the working amp were had less wear and seemed to be new. 8. Replace output tubes in defective amp with the best of the tested new output tubes. 9. Test and cook, recheck alignment.  10. Listening test. 11. Re-assemble amplifiers.

It is quite a remarkable amp. I was listening for a while to a SACD and they just kept sounding better as time went on. No charge for the listening. George.
