| I'm sorry, I used to consider myself an audio file kind of person, but at 70 years old and not to computer savvy this is confusing. I almost bought the unit new a few years ago,
but the updates and downloads turned me off. Are all the updates for the ARC? It seems that a lot of users have issues with ARC and don't use it. I guess I can do the same and just whip out the old trusty sound level meter and test tones. I'm heavy into sound quality. Hi! Keep in mind I’m a user, not a dealer nor am I a designer from Anthem. I recall the most recent updates focusing on video passthrough performance. There should be no issues decoding the latest audio standards — I used this processor for all manner of Dolby Digital, including Atmos. Regarding ARC, I’m not sure what you’re coming across out there but it has always worked great for me. My last speakers on this unit was a 5.1 setup with 4 Atmos heights and 2 subs. I have a strange-shaped room and I appreciated the ARC results. I have also checked levels using the built-in functionality on this processor and a SPL meter I have; if that’s the way you want to go. I will say that Anthem processors give fantastic detail for sound quality. Of course, the other components have to carry their role, too, to be able to experience everything this has to offer! |
| Does this have the latest firmware update? Yes, this has firmware 1.4.095 on it which is the latest. If that’s a concern, I have several prior versions of firmware and this model allows loading any compatible firmware (upgrade or downgrade). |
