VTL Ultimate Preamplifier

One of the vintage best and relatively rare! I am the second owner and opt to go in a different direction as per the lifelong hobby. The original owner professionally performed all the modifications/upgrades. I have also included (installed) a pair of Sylvania 5751 triple mica military grade tubes for more gain in the line stage portion. They replace the 12AU7's which will be included. The preamp design details include:
- Later version of the dual-mono design with improved hinged chassis for easy access.
- The David Manley design uses most of the circuit design of the Marantz 7 preamp with a few changes which include:
- Dual mono power supply/ left and right channels completely separated all the way back to the power chord. -  installation of both program/mute and stereo/mono switches that earlier versions did not have.
- Separate power switches, input selectors and passive balance controls for each channel, to reduce inter-channel cross-talk.
- 2 phono inputs (one replacing the problematic XLR design of the time), MM and most MC (2mv or higher/ 47k ohms) cartridges.
- All of the electrolytic and photoflash capacitors have been upgraded with high-quality Japanese caps - Panasonic and Nichicon.
Cosmetics I have rated as "good" on the AG scale. There are a few minor scratches and blemishes but nothing significant.The sonic signature is beautifully warm and detailed!  Included -  4 "FOCULPODS" to replace stock footers/ stock power chord if desired.
