For sale is a Soundsmith Zephyr MIMC Star moving iron phono cartridge. Purchased new from an authorized dealer (Upscale Audio) and professionally installed by them on a new VPI Prime Signature Rosewood. This cartridge has less than 20 hours on it, probably closer to 10 hours honestly. Sold the table. I removed the cartridge and stored it in it's original packaging. Was saving it as an alternate cartridge for a second system, but my plans have changed. The cartridge weighs 10.27 grams.
All images are of the actual cartridge listed for sale.
At my asking price, USPS Priority Mail shipping is included, fully insured of course, as are PayPal fees. Should we negotiate beyond, shipping and fees may not be included. Will ship CONUS only, and to the PayPal verified address. Please ask all questions before committing. Thank you for your interest.
Two more things . . . . When it finally wears out, SoundSmith will rebuild this cartridge for $350, which is an amazing deal because after the work is done, it's essentially a brand new cartridge. Also, here's a quote from Michael Fremer about this cartridge when he reviewed in for Analog Planet in 2016:
"At the under $2000 price point, the new low output Soundsmith Zephyr MIMIC Star is an overachiever that gives you a glimpse of the best in terms of non-mechanical, artifact-free performance, for a small percentage of the state of the art asking price. With measured 36dB chancel separation the Zephyr Star’s spatial performance is up there with the best at any price, as is its smooth, reasonably fast and non-mechanical overall demeanor."
Yes, this was five years ago now, but lucky for us, things don't change very quickly in analog audio.
