Shunyata Research Hydra HC Power Cord (10Ft, 20A)

This ad is for a 10Ft Hydra HC power cord in Very Good condition, terminated with a 20A IEC at the component end and a standard wall plug. Originally designed as a "fat pipe" from the wall to Shunyata's power conditioners, the Hydra HC's massive 9AWG VTX conductors deliver gobs of current. More current, in fact, than the wall outlet can deliver! By removing the bottleneck of current flow between the wall and the power conditioner, the Hydra HC is able to unleash incredible performance; huge dynamic range, greatly lowered noise floor and much improved tonal balance.

VTX refers to Shunyata's proprietary Virtual Tube Geometry. VTX eliminates the thick, muffled sound of larger gauge cables while still offering outstanding conductivity and bass weight. VTX is created by weaving stranded conductors into a hollow tube leaving the center of the conductor empty. Shunyata's theory is that VTX speeds up energy transfer, whether that's true or not, the sonic effect is pretty astonishing. Compared to other Shunyata cables of similar gauge (e.g. Copperhead, Venom HC etc) the Hydra HC is simply more open, more resolving, more dynamic, less compressed and more energetic.

8/10 rating is because unlike virtually all other Shunyata cables, the Hydra HC receives a simple black PVC jacket. Even though this jacket is incredibly tough, it is more prone to showing small scuffs and scratches than other Shunyata cables. So, even though the cable is in outstanding mechanical condition, I'm offering a conservative rating. This Hydra HC cable is complete with original Shunyata box, plastic sheathing, QC ticket, User Guide, Warranty Card, Warranty Terms Card, marketing sheet for Shunyata Signal Cables, a reprint of Robert Harley's interview with Caelin Gabriel and a TAS review of the V-Ray v2 and CX cords. Cable will be shipped inside another box and will be, of course, well packaged.
