Acoustic Research AR-5 speakers -- mint

This is probably the best pair of AR-5 speakers you'll see this year. I bought them a couple of years ago from an employee at "Vintage AR", a seller who is well known among AR enthusiasts for AR speakers, repair items and general knowledge. Here's how she described them to me:

"All drivers are original. Both woofers have had their surrounds replaced and the voice coils centered during the surrounds replacment. All four level controls have been replaced with superior L Pad controls. The controls have four new, original knobs. The crossovers are original and tested to the original specs.
The grilles have been recovered with grille cloth that was imported and matches the original. The logo plates are original new old stock. The cabinets have been completely refinished, sanded, stained, new oil finish applied and hand rubbed. The cabinets are excellent, with nice sharp corners and hand rubbed to a silky finish. There are no significant blemishes, including the bottoms." Note that one speaker is lacking one part of the back-panel documentation.

I'd say they're in just as good a condition as the day I got them. Please see the pictures and decide for yourself. I am selling these "as-is", just to be clear. Please ask me any questions in advance, so that there are no misunderstandings subsequently. I am listing them as condition 9/10 because they are in such nice shape, with the understanding that the seller knows these are not new items, having been made several decades ago -- when speakers sounded great!

I have the boxes that she used to ship them to me, and they are very, very sturdy. I'm confident I can ship them anywhere in the U.S. without difficulty, at your expense.

I am asking $400 for the pair, plus shipping (two separate boxes). Or pickup in northern Virginia. There's nothing new on the market for that price that comes even close to these speakers. I'll take a personal check and let it clear, or a cashier's check from a bank, or cash if you wish. I am in no hurry to sell, so am willing to wait the time for the check to clear.
