I currently live in Northbrook, IL, which is a suburb approximately 30 minutes northwest of Chicago. I am moving to Texas shortly, so I am selling my SMT room treatments as well as my house. If you're an audiophile looking for a great house near Chicago, I've got one that may fit the bill. It's a 2700 (I believe) square foot townhouse that is absolutely stunning with hardwood, granite, 2-car garage, and many extras...most importantly a killer sound room/theater. It was originally designed by Rives Audio, but to be quite honest...it was pretty bad form an acoustical standpoint. I had Matts Odelmalm out from Sweden to personally measure the room and tweak it. Now it sounds great!!! Ceiling is suspended, double layer of drywall with green glue, upgraded electrical with dedicated lines, Albert Porter's plugs and many extras. It's practically soundproof. If the family is sleeping upstairs, you're still able to listen as loud as you'd like without disturbing anyone. I'm guessing I've put over $200k into this room, including some of the modifications from the original Rives room.
Since I can't post links on this site, I suggest you go to diffusor dot com as well as Performance Acoustics Labs to read more about these great products. As a matter of fact, my room is posted on Performance Acoustics Labs website. If you're interested in the products or perhaps the entire home, please contact me as soon as possible. The house will be on the market within the next couple of weeks. Thanks for looking.
