Classic Nagra Kudelski Is 1/4 tape recorder,
Essentially this model was designed and used for "on-set" film recording and news reporting - Electronic News Gathering (ENG).
Was designed for "idiot proof" operation with one hand action putting it into any function .
A large easy to read VU (avg) meter which also can show the amount of gain reduction the compressor(switchable) is causing,
it also can show battery level.
This recorder is now finding renewed popularity with technicians as a sampling recorder for sound effects.
The analogue signal path combined with the compressor and the natural overload-compression characteristics of 1/4 tape gives the operator liberty with mic levels and effectively more headroom than can be achieved by digital recorders(which have to record lower levels to avoid clip),which means more dynamics to record loud and especially explosive sounds.
(lets not talk about noise floors here :) haha....leave the very quiet jobs to digital)

Battery or adapter power.(adapter is 12v but not Nagra original)
Takes 8 "D"cells if needed out in the field.

Phenomenal ff&rew speeds.
Pilot tone for on set film sych
2 speed 3.35"/sec and 7.5"/sec with 2 pre-emphasis eq switchable
2 mic-line inputs on xlr3pin with 48v switchable.
(it is mono recording but the two inputs can be pre-mixed on the panel if the pilot tone function is not used.
This is a used unit but in good condition.
exceptions:
Lid is not transparent anymore and has no lock or hinges...not needed for use.
Capstain idler wheel will need replacing sooner or later but functions now.
Small crack on side of meter glass....almost invisible.
