Audio Research of the US has always made a lot of preamps ad amps, etc, but they don't make a lot of CD players. When they do, they are good ones, and they aren't cheaply made. Their CD players, including this one, attract excellent reviews from the Audio Press. Here's one from a British magazine:
The CD3 came out in 2002, then in 2004 they released the Mk II that had 45 part changes in it for obviously improved performance.
The CD3 MkII is a top-loading player with a magnetic puck to clamp the CD in position...no more worrying about malfunctioning drawers, and CD accessory mats are easy to use. (and I have some good ones here that you can use) The CD3 MkII has both Balanced and Single-ended analogue outputs, as well as co-ax and AES/EBU (xlr) digital outputs.
The player for sale here is the CD3 MkII that sold for $6500.00 in Canada. This one is in perfect condition, and you can have it for only $2400.00 obro...which is $400.00 below the current US $2800.00 Bluebook value for this player.
