For sale is the Audio Synthesis DAX Discrete Variable with the optional balanced output board.

You barely see this DAC on the used market, and that for a good reason. The sound is awesome an can compete with the world's best DACs.

It's an absolutely brilliant device. The "Variable Option" allows you to adjust the output (attenuation of the analogue output level in precision 1.0dB steps) so no need of a preamp if digital playback is your only source.

The casing is made from 1 inch thick aluminum. The DAX provides 5 different digital filters you can choose from and is capable of upsamling the input data up to 768kHz.

Upsaming rate:
44.1kHz (CD input) to 706kHz
48kHz (Music Server f.i.) to 768kHz

6 Inputs: 1x Toslink (glass), 1x S/PDIF (RCA), 1x AES/EBU (XLR), 2x ST (glass), 1x empty
3 Outputs: 1 pair XLR (fully differential XLR balanced) and 2 pair RCA (unbalanced)

It is a 115V device but can be converted to 230V for Europe by Audio Synthesis in Nottingham, England.
