This is Bob's best effort and Bob makes the best step-up transformers. I bought it to use with my low output Denon DL-304 but it was defective so I had another cartridge that didn't need the step-up transformer installed on my table. I would keep this for a later date but I could use the money so I'm putting it up for sale (but don't need the money bad enough to budge on price). I did take it out of the box and hooked it up but never installed the cartridge so it went unused.
Includes premium construction with C&K Brand Silver contact toggle switches, and Deluxe Gold Plated RCA jacks.
These specially designed transformers are wired to connect a moving coil cartridge (on a turntable) to a phono preamplifier, phono input of a receiver, or your preamp's phono input.
Switchable for 1:20 (26 dB gain) or 1:40 (32 dB gain).
Into a standard 47k phono preamp, the effective input impedance of the low gain (1:20 ratio) is 118 ohms. At 1:40, the effective input impedance is 29 ohms.
The 1:40 ratio is perfect for those extremely low output cartridges including some by Audio Notes and Ortofon SPU
I did eventually get a new DL-304 from the factory and I would make a good deal for someone who wanted both items. Here is a link to Bob's website for the step-up transformer: http://www.bobsdevices.com/cinemag1131.htm
I will ship free to the U.S. and pay the paypal fees.
