I got this cartridge brand new put 45 hours of break in time and another 4-5 hours of listening. This cartridge is superb and belongs in the class with the Benz Micro LPS. I have had this cartridge for 6 months and used it for evaluation along with others (Benz Micro LPS, Paradox Pulse R SMR, Benz Micro Gullwing SLR and Miyajima Labs Shilabe) which was the customer's wish to understand the characteristics of each. Now he wants me to sell them off.
The Ruby ZH, H is for High output, Moving Coil cartridge is an outstanding performer in the midrange. The Bass is tight, deep and has weight and musicality. The highs have a clarity and a very natural sound.
Tracking is listed at 1.8 to 2 grams my evaluation was at 2 grams, output .62mv. Cheers Terence I can offer other payment methods and will be happy to discuss anything about this product with you. 760-245-8435
Ruby Z upgrades this famous model to full “S Class” status. It features the new Zebra wood body, second only to Ebony for its resonance characteristics, offering bass weight and pitch definition, midrange linearity and high frequency clarity with a natural musicality. The new Micro Ridge stylus is featured, providing enhanced tracking, resolution and groove integrity. The generator is based on the Ruby square plate and available in both .35mV and .7mV outputs. The Ruby Z low output is best used with phono stages offering greater than 60dB gain, loaded at 400 ohms or higher.
The Ruby Zebra cartridge ($4,800 MSRP) weighs only 10.6 grams, making it ideal for a wide range of tonearms, including today’s state-of-the-art, and vintage models lacking the energy control, bearing designs, or counter-weight range. As always, Benz offers industry leading trade-up programs for older Ruby owners as well as all Benz models.
