For sale is one KLIPSCH MCZ-7 MOVING COIL PHONO CARTRIDGE that I bought from former Klipsch dealer about 10-11 years ago. I have two of them, I am keeping one for myself (the one I keep is also new / unused but the case is worn out with missing pieces of the imitation snake skin cover).

CONDITION: NEW / UNUSED in the original box with all documentation enclosed.

Made in the 80's in Japan by master Hibino as commissioned by Klipsch company based on their specs and overall concept. There were four models made, as follows: MCZ-2 (with special aluminum alloy cantilever), MCZ-7 (with ultra stiff boron cantilever), MCZ-10 (with pure ruby cantilever), MCZ-110 (with pure diamond cantilever).

SPECS are the same for all four models, as follows:

- output 0.2 mV (1kHz, 3.54 cm/sec)

- frequency response 20-45,000 Hz (+/- 2dB)

- channel separation more than 27 dB

- channel balance less than 0.5 dB (1kHz)

- optimal stylus pressure 1.8 +/- 0.3 grams

- stylus 0.3 x 0.7 mil.

- weight 5.1 grams

VERY RARE PHONO CARTRIDGE, ESPECIALLY IN NEW / UNUSED CONDITION AND A COLLECTOR'S ITEM. SIMPLY SAID A LEGENDARY PHONO CARTRIDGE.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:

I used one such Klipsch cartridge myself for about one year 20 years ago that was fitted on a Yamaha tangential turntable (bought like this) with the cartridge continuously used since late 80's, so I am very familiar with its performance. I can easily rank the Klipsch cartridges as number one for their natural and realistic sound, out of more than ten prestigious moving coil phono cartridges I used so far, or heard them in various stereo systems. They just sound like the real music (with proper associated equipment and setup), not bright but not dark, not very detailed but not dull, not fast but not slow, and so forth (the Yamaha turntable was sold one year later with the Klipsch cartridge mounted on it, then found those two MCZ-7 again, one being offered here for sale).

Selling to raise some extra cash I need at this time.
