The pleasure principle at work! Shelters deliver so much fun and energy you'll feel just how physical music can be.

Treat yourself to what might be one of the most dynamic, fun and emotionally compelling cartridges on the market. Not to mention all the 'normal' audiophile traits they're also so well known for.

Shelter 7000 Moving coil, Customer Trade, 9/10 condition, age unknown, 30 day warranty. Premium Retip by Van Den Hul about 400 hours of use ago. Fully inspected under microscope and in perfect condition with nominal wear. Should have well over 800+ hours use left. We set it up on a VPI Prime Signature (that's optional!), played for a few LPs and sound is  at least as good as I remember my own 7000. Transparent, fast, spacious, not a romantic sound, but quite natural, not etched. Retail $2,800, sell for $1,100

Testimonials (on the Shelter 9000, 7000, 5000 and prior model 90x)

"The Shelter 7000 Cartridge is a musically generous, well-balanced cartridge whose freedom from gross colorations and annoying mechanical artifacts made it easy to enjoy in a very high resolution system... the Shelter 7000 is yet another indication of how analog's increasing popularity is spurring better designs at (relatively) lower prices." - Michael Fremer, Stereophile

"Shelter cartridges enjoy a reputation for smoothness, vibrant tonal colors, holographic soundstaging, and an eminently listenable sound, but designer Yasuo Ozawa hoped to give his new models "more life" - meaning more detail, transient speed and explosive dynamics. Those qualities are exactly what Shelter's 5000 and Shelter 7000 Cartridges deliver, thought the latter justifies its higher price by providing more finely resolved and open-sounding highs, more potent, refined bass, and greater dynamic poise."  - Editor's Choice Award, The Absolute Sound, Issue #185

"... the Shelter 5000 offers significant performance relative to the next model down in Shelter's product line - the award winning 501 Mk II.  Specifically, the 5000 surpasses its less costly little brother by delivering more detail, more sharply drawn dynamic contrasts, and a more fleshed out, 3 dimensional soundstage. ... what is more, is you could build a strong case that the Shelter 7000 Cartridge is even more detailed and revealing than the original 90x, though it sells for much less ... It beautifully fulfills Ozawa's vision for a cartridge that remains grounded in musical gemutlichkeit, yet offers a more lively sound"  - Chris Martens, The Absolute Sound, Issue 180

"Everything the 90X is known for is there, the same frequency integration and coherency, the same warmth, but the two little fissures in the 90X's personality have been repaired: the slight dynamic reticence, the slight vagueness in imaging. The 9000 sounds BIG. With it on the SME 312 arm, the space in the front of my room is entirely filled in. This guy has powerful, yet composed, attacks: if we were talking about amps, I'd say it's like the 90X with a lot more watts. It makes the precursor seem polite.

Treble extension is just as high and now flesh is continuous. Piccolos are just as piercing, but without a hint of shrillness. Channel separation and resolution are enhanced-I'm learning more about each instrument. With a lighter tonal balance than the 90X and tight, articulate bass, the 9000 has better PRAT. The low-end doesn't monopolize the sound or muddy the beat.

Guaranteed, you will be hearing more about this cartridge-a lot more-as word gets out. Stunning performance."  - Marshal Nack, Positive Feedback Online, Issue 33
