I am the second owner.  The first owner was another person on Audiogon.

I purchased it in 5/2013.  I used it for about 2 years.  I later upgraded to another CD player, so this unit has been in storage since.

The CD player had worked perfectly, without any issues.

This uni is complete with remote control, factory packaging and owners manual. Retail on these was around $8,500 new, yours for only $2,500 plus shipping

The Capitole is a 192/24 upsampling player that uses Swiss-made Anagram technology plus Audio Aero's patented and exclusive STARS upsampling/resampling process that puts it head and shoulders above other players. They were using 6021w sub-miniature tubes in the output section long before it became fashionable with cheap imitators.
Audio Aero built their reputation through performance at Consumer and Trade shows and the endorsement of people in the industry who heard and bought them for their own use, not through paid-for reviews in big glossy magazines.
The Capitole is so effective in its abilities to bring out detail and musicality that it sounds better playing Redbook CDs than all but the most expensive SACD players reading the same music on an SACD layer.   The Capitole MkII offers both single-ended (rca) and balanced (xlr) outputs. It has an analogue volume control that allows you to run this player directly to your amplifier, so if you only have this one digital source you can sell your pre-amplifier....and chances are the Capitole sounds better than your pre-amp!

Below is an excerpt from the Audio Aero manual:
First, we selected a high-end laser mechanism from Philips for its excellent playback performance, long lifetime, low play noise and long product life cycle. Supported by a specific aluminum suspension, its excellent readability allows to retrieving a maximum of CD’s data.
Then, we included the state-of-the-art in digital processing : our exclusive STARS ® process (Solution for Time Abstraction Re Sampling), a combination of very high speed 192 kHz RE-sampling (a new jitter free clock is created), 24 bit re-quantization and signal enhancement techniques (extraction of “hidden” information from 16 bit data, improvement of dynamic, precision, sound stage and details), developed for Audio Aero by Anagram Technologies SA.
The core of the system is a 32 bit SHARC DSP which, by performing hundred millions of calculations per second, rebuilds a high precision 24 bit/192kHz signal, independent from the input clock, and keeping total dynamic range in all stages.
Then, after a 1024 times up-sampling on demand, D/A conversion is performed at 6.144MHz by a high performance 24 bit / 192 kHz DAC.
Analogue output stage features sub-miniature tubes and high precision buffer with built-in high quality volume control for a perfect match between high-tech digital treatment and musicality.   After this high precision digital treatment and a D/A conversion performed by one of the best available DAC, we selected the 6021W sub-miniature tube for analog output stage.Directly soldered to PCB and small sized, this tube, built upon military standards, avoids wrong contacts due to the socket, shortens the signal path, is less sensitive to vibrations and is the perfect match with surface mount components environment.
The Capitole 24/192 is the perfect symbol of the successful synthesis between high tech digital treatment and tubed analogue output. Its outstanding musicality will allow you to explore and experience the previously-hidden performance of your CD collection.
