Another item from my vast collection, selling to fund divorce settlement... enough said.
Here is a really nice, and VERY rare, Philips CD-880. I've had this for a few years and honestly even unmodified it beat out my modified Philips CD-80 which I sold earlier this year, and it also easily beat out my CD-960 which I also sold last year. Funny, all 3 models have basically the same DNA, (OK, the CD-960 had the original CDM 1 transport) yet the CD-880 handily beats them all.
Take a close look at all of the pictures, look at the copper chassis and overall build quality. It's very heavy considering the size of it.
Anyway, I had several small capacitors (out of tolerance) in the power supply replaced, and the infamous 33 uF capacitor on the servo board (actually, all of the servo board caps were replaced) was also replaced.
This was done because when I first received it the unit had trouble with some CD's. Ultimately it ended up getting a replacement laser from a very low hours donor unit, and obviously it now works perfectly, reads CD's and CDR's with no trouble at all, tracks quickly, and does all of the things that this excellent transport is well known for doing.
The original transport screws are long gone but it has 2 replacement transport screws that lock down the transport very nicely, and of course those are installed now for shipment.
The remote is not the factory original remote, but it is nearly identical to the original which is even rarer than the machine itself. I wish I knew where all of the original remotes have gone for these units, I scoured the net for nearly 2 years and could not find an original remote for sale anywhere. When I found this one I didn't hesitate to jump on it.
The manual is a reprint but nicely done.
The unit itself of course works perfectly, so I rate function as a 10 but cosmetics at a conservative 7. There are a few light scratches/scuffs on the cover, some superficial marks on the face, and a tiny little piece of the silkscreen is missing from the word "Open" on the door where the eject button is. The rest of the silkscreen on the face is intact.
The unit has been sealed with tamper proof seals to prevent parts swappers from pulling scams. Sorry but once you've been burned you tend to take measures to protect yourself, and as I mentioned this is a very rare unit. I have only seen 2 others ever offered for sale in the past 4 years, and they usually fetch much more than my asking price. Do your own research on this particular model and you will see for yourself.
It is being sold as described, but no warranty or return. Check my feedback and buy with confidence. I guarantee it works as described and you will not be disappointed.
The unit is extremely well packed (double boxed) and ready to ship to the lucky new owner, once payment is made and PayPal indicates it is OK to ship. I usually ship within 1 day of receiving payment.
Shipping to lower 48 is set at $60. If it is less I will refund the difference, if it is more I will cover it. Unit will ship FedEx ground insured for the full sale amount and will require a signature to receive it. Please be sure that you will be able to sign for it. A phone number is also required for FedEx, and it must ship to your verified PayPal address.
So, if you know what this is (and I assume you do if you read this far LOL) and you have been searching for one that is in excellent functional and good cosmetic condition, you just found it so don't hesitate because it won't last long.
Please don't use the Buy It Now if you are not 100% sure you want this item. I will consider reasonable offers from members with excellent feedback.
Thanks for looking and keep an eye out for more collectible items as I have an overwhelming amount of audio equipment that needs to be sold.
