I have for sale an Audio Research CD-2 CD player in need of repair. When I insert a disc and hit the play button, the display says (disc not found) so I'm selling it "as is" in need of repair. More than likely, the unit will need a new transport assembly as it currently will not read and play a disc. If the ad is listed the CD player is available.

Entirely new and original (professional quality) laser assemblies are available for this unit online and I can forward the information to you. With a new pro quality transport installed, the unit would be almost as good as new in terms of disc playback.
This is a very well built, high end CD player that retailed for $3,500 back when it was built. It has all the standard functions a CD player should have and it comes with the original Audio Research remote and a copy of the owners manual. The CD player also has many different audio cable hookup options on the back side to accommodate whatever cables your system might use.
As can be seen in the pictures... the CD player is in overall nice shape cosmetically, the handles have some very light scratch's and the right handle was touched up in a spot..
As with all Audio Research audio gear it's an extremely well built piece of electronics.

Shipping will be a flat $19.95 fully insured within the 48 continental USA states, No International sales. I have vast experience in shipping electronics. If you have any questions about the unit please email me before buying the unit. Please note: The CD player is being sold "as is and in need of repair" with no returns, as it currently will not play a disc.

Here's some information on the unit from the Audio Research data base web site.

The CD2 is a versatile new model that offers the function and output options of a digital transport as well as the convenience of a complete single-chassis CD player. Performance is exceptional when used in either mode. The CD2 uses a rugged CD-rom transport mechanism and laser assembly to accurately read the digital data on compact discs. The digital data-stream is then decoded by a bitstream D/A differential (balanced) decoder capable of 20-bit resolution. The resulting analog signal is subsequently fed to a fully differential, direct-coupled analog output stage using both J-FET and bipolar transistors and regulated supplies. The CD2 includes extensive internal engineering dedicated to the control of mechanical resonances potentially affecting the performance of active circuit components.Consequently, the CD2 has even less measurable jitter than its predecessor models, the CD1/CDT1, which were industry leaders in this important aspect.

The CD2 provides exceptional musical resolution from CD sources-smooth, harmonically rich, dynamic output with remarkable retrieval of ambient and dimensional detail. Full handheld IR remote control of all functions is included; essential functions are manually accessible by pushbuttons on the front panel. All functions are described in detail in the CD2 Owner's Manual.
