Questions for the seller
Has it ever had any issues/problems? How does it sound? Thanks.
Hi, I have never had any issues or problems with the CX-7. I have experimented and used its single ended and balanced outputs and have also used its digital output to feed an external DAC. In all configurations, the CX-7 has worked perfectly. The configuration I used the most was the balanced output to my preamp. The other main components in my system are an ARC LS-25 MKII tube preamp, ARC 100.2 solid state amp and Aerial Acoustics 7T speakers. As for the sound, after I originally upgraded to the CX-7, I considered it a “keeper” and expected it to stay in my system until the end. For me, the CX-7 seemed to “slow” the music down and provide more detail. There seemed to be more air around individual instruments that set up a resolving soundstage. The CX-7 seemed to provide the most bang for the buck. Recently, I re-evaluated my system configuration when I used an old Logitech Squeezebox to stream CD quality music online from Tidal. For me, the convenience of having millions of CD quality tracks in my music library outweighed the use of the CX-7 in my system. I am taking a temporary step backwards in sound quality by selling my CX-7 but I do plan on adding a new network streamer or music server and DAC combination in the future. Regards, Jade
