Beautiful cosmetically and
sounding. The asking price includes shipping in the USA but buyer pays all PayPal fees. The A5.5 CD player is really pretty cool. You drop in a standard 16/44.1 CD and the 5.5 upsamples it to 24/192. I have rated it 8/10 due to its age. When you see it I think you
will agree it looks very, very nice. I am the original owner and I cannot find one ding or
scratch on it. The best part is that it has very low hours of use. Truly.
Conservatively, 80% of my listening is to LPs. Also, I purchased a D to A converter in 2012 and so the 5.5 has only been used a few
times since then. I plugged it in and play a CD to make sure it
worked. The music that poured through
the 5.5 was glorious and non-mechanical. I then read the following description in the
manual:
"The CD digital data
streams are first up-sampled to 192kHz, which moves noise, jitter, and
distortion artifacts well above the audio band. They are then passed
through a new, low noise, low distortion 24- bit dual-differential
digital-to-analogue converter…" The
manual went on to say, "Another feature of the A5.5 CD is an additional
high quality ECC88 valve buffer stage output for added valve warmth to the
sound."
24/192 upsampling and it also has a tube
output No, wonder it sounded so good.
