Asking Price is $350 O/B/O.
Retail price fluctuated according to currency exchange rate - and cannot reliably be stated in todays US Dollars. Amount shown is an approximation of the retail price at the time of purchase. Best Estimate is $2,850.00.
This item is being sold "as is" - with NO warrantees or recourse after sale.
It It is in impeccable physical condition as indicated, and obvious from the Photos, taken in my home.
It comes extremely well packed in the original box & packing materials.
The Remote shows understandable wear of the white "Play/Pause "lettering on the black rubber button (See Detail in photo) - which is the most frequently used of any other buttons by 95%. All buttons function perfectly.
The Laser reading mechanism skips frequently, regardless of the condition of the CD. and clearly needs service of some sort? Perhaps a simple Laser replacement?
This could easily become a worthwhile DIY Project for those of you who are knowledgeable about such things. Remember, that the TL51XR has a quality DAC built-in which could be used as a stand-alone DAC with some internal wiring changes.
For those who are NOT DIY savvy, CEC does have an Authorized Service Center in Northern CA that is highly expert, and VERY Reliable. See contact Info below.
The repaired result is a first-class CD Player/Transport that ranks with the very best.
When I say Transport - of special note is the presence of C.E.C.'s SuperLink 9-Pin Clock Output connector, enabling the TL51XR to become a Transport that is slaved to a DAC, which is capable of handling such operations. The Lessloss DAC comes to mind, as it was what I used it with. This arrangement eliminates the inevitable conflict of 2 different Digital clocks causing fundamental jitter in the digital data-stream, thus deteriorating the sound (the difference with & without is instantly discernible)
The Clock Cable is available separately, as is the Boston Audio Graphite Disc Stabilizer - a Great Accessory made especially for this player, which minimizes CD Edge Fluttering for the best possible sound. The effect is very noticeable! This fantastic accessory is no longer available, and is in like-new condition. With proper care in use, it will last a lifetime! It can be used in most Top-loader CD Players. See separate Listing.
The TL51XR also has a first-class DAC built-in to make it a fantastic CD Player in it's own right, with no need for the SuperLink 9-Pin Clock Output cable, as the TL51XR's DAC is internally connected to the Transport's Clock! You choose!!

Questions for the seller |
---|
So have you shipped it to CEC to have a proper diagnosis to validate your simple laser alignment assumption? There IS no "shipping it to CEC to have a proper diagnosis" - They re in Japan! The NA Distributer has retired. The only CEC Repair shop its listed in the ad, and it is his "diagnosis" I restated in my ad.
IF you feel competent to repair the laser, have at it, If not, I would forget it.
St sky rate, I have an offer of $430 including the Stabilizer
Seems like I should accept that.
Let me know your thoughts.
