Cambridge Audio 840C CD player and DAC - these really are smashing values
for the money, and competed with much more expensive players.
The 840C is an upsampling unit that bring all signals (CD or DAC input) up
to 24bit 384khz. (Max input is 24/192.) Also
functions as a DAC with two sets of digital inputs of either SPDIF on
coax or Toslink each.
I found this one to be revealing but still natural, not warm & rounded-off (like say Marantz). Reviews suggest the newer 851C is much more analytical - almost too much so. Personally I wouldn't go there after enjoying this one for a number of years.
As shown in the photos it's in basically pristine shape. Rated 8/10 based on age. I'm the second owner (acquired it here on the 'gon). Included with the player is the original box, docs, remote and AC cord.
