Oppo BDP-93 specially modified by Exemplar Audio. Brand new drive installed a few months and rarely played since. Absolutely in perfect working order and sounds wonderful. Due to upgrade by Exemplar the unit sounds not only very good on digital output, but also on analog outputs using the internal DAC.

| I am ignorant on these as well. My biggest concern is the remaining laser life. Also confusion as to when the drive was installed: 5 years ago or a few months ago? The drive was installed in the last year. I would say it has maybe 5 hours on it but probably not that. If you have drive troubles within one year I'll replace it free. That I guarantee. As long as Oppo does the work and confirms the drive you had in it (from me) failed. No problem. |
| Sorry but couple of more Qs. When did the Exemplar mod the unit and even with mod Oppo replace things? I think the mod was about 4 years ago when the unit was brand new. Yes replacing the drive affects nothing that Exemplar did. |
| The brand new drive installed by who? Does that mean it also have the new laser mechanism and lon Thanks. I sent it to Oppo and they installed it. I imagine it is just a duplicate of what originally came with the unit. I'm too ignorant of subtleties between drives but I assume they installed a replacement not an upgraded unit. I just know for the money it sounds quite good. |
| expected long laser life? thanks. Sorry but I'm not expert on any of this. My first drive lasted for four years and I replaced it just to replace it. Never failed. this one I imagine must last 5 years at minimum. That's from my experience anyway. Not to mention Oppo has great service if you do want to replace it. |
