For sale by original owner, this is THE ORIGINAL SACD player, offered in excellent condition.  The unit was upgraded by Richard Kern of Audiomod in Portland, OR in the early 2000s.  He performed clock and output stage modifications in a $2,500 upgrade package.  The unit is in excellent condition, works reliably and sounds excellent.  The time between disc insertion and playback is slow in the SCD-1s.  Occasionally a disc will fail to read, also common in these machines.  Original remote and stabilizer are included.  Owners manual is available online.

Questions for the seller
Are replacement parts readily available? I see some stains on the back. Has any liquid been in contact with the unit? Any scratches or concerns? How many estimated hours of use? Thanks.
I have no knowledge about replacement parts except I have seen OEM laser assemblies for sale on Ebay. Sony is a huge company, so I would guess there are parts available. I never noticed stains on the back. I bought the unit new and it has sat on the same audio rack for years. The only liquid I'm aware of is the isopropyl alcohol I used to clean up the unit before packing it. There are a few very superficial scratches on the top, barely identifiable in the pictures. Other than the occasional failure to play a disc, mentioned in the description, I have no concerns. I couldn't begin to estimate the hours of use. However, I'm a vinyl guy. I would say the use of the SCD-1 was relatively light, since I usually prefer playing records. Thanks.
