Respighi_Maazel_-_Feste___Pines_0211.jpg

"Mostly known for his richly descriptive symphonic poems Fontane di Roma (The Fountains of Rome) and Pini di Roma (The Pines of Rome), Respighi was a versatile composer who translated into music powerful visual experiences and feelings of deep attachment to cherished places. Respighi's symphonic works are praised primarily for their exquisite orchestration, but these compositions also possess a charm which transcends the merely picturesque." - AMG.

This is the original from which the famous MOFI pressing was made. How do they compare? You be the judge.
Stunning sound! The dynamics on thes LP are amazing - from dead-quiet silence to thundering Crescendo's. The tonality is warm and natural sounding. Detail and micro-detail abound on this recording - you can hear nuances on many instruments that not even the MOFI re-mastering captures. The overall sound of this DECCA/London pressing is more 'tube-like' - the MOFI is more 'solid-state'. Both have wide and soundstages with strong imaging and both have deep, powerful Bass but the midrange and treble are more delicate and transparent on the DECCA/London pressing. To sum it up, I would say that the MOFI has an edge on being more 'impressive' (Hi-Fi/Audiophile sounding) but the DECCA/London has a tonality and delicateness about it which just makes it more 'Musical' and natural sounding. Both are great in their own right's, but you must be the judge as to which attributes are most important to you. Either way, you can't really go wrong.
Some mild surface noise (low-level 'ticks') only on very quiet passages.

Each record is washed on a VPI cleaning machine using a proprietary 3-5 agent process which is determined by the needs of the individual record. Each record is then listened to 100% to insure that the posted description is exactly what you can expect to get.
