For Sale or Trade is a one of a kind 6bg6 amp run in PP Triode for about 8 wpc. Originally moded by John Ecklund who was a retired engineer at McIntosh, this was later moded with different output tranny, newer silver caps and 5U4 rectifier to replace the SS rectifier. A very sweet sounding amp.

Uses 4x6BG6 output tubes, 2x6SN7 driver tubes, 1x12ax7 input tube & 1x5U4 rectifier. Comes with 4 high quality Russian Military 6bq6 tubes, 4 back up 6bg6 tubes, 4 6sn7 tubes, 2-12ax7's (1 Mullard, 1 NOS IEC of G.Br), and 1 5U4 and heavy duty power cord.

The 6BG6G power pentode tube is a superior replacement for 6L6, 6550, KT88 tubes with much greater frequency response. Another advantage is price--a set of four 6BG6G tubes costs less than a single KT88. The Russian tubes have low hours on them, I'm not sure about the wear on the other 6bg6 tubes. Amp runs very conservatively and sounds wonderful with the Linn speakers that I have in a separate ad.

Will consider & prefer trading for a higher powered tube amp, tube integrated amp, tube preamp w/phono, high powered chip amp or SS amp (tubes preferable). I have enjoyed this amp immensely, one of the best tube amps I've ever owned but now have some low efficiency speakers that need more power...

Amp is not dead quiet but works very well with my 87-88 db Linn Helix speakers. Lastly, one of the ceramic tube caps is not as snug as the other 3, it has to be turned almost 90 degrees sideways for it to fit snugly, probably an easy fix though...
