I bought this previously owned PV 10AL to evaluate tubes in my old system. I do not know how many people have owned this preamp, but as you can see from the photographs, for a unit of this vintage there are no major cosmetic flaws. All the lettering is intact and there are no signs of abuse or excessive wear on the face or case of this unit. There is one light scratch on the top of the unit. I would consider it a well cared for but obviously used piece of equipment. It is very conservatively rated 7/10 because of the scratch.
This preamp sounded very nice with my old adcom amplification. The only operational flaw I detected was that the volume pot makes some noise if you adjust it too quickly. The pot isn't so noisy as to make the unit unusable but down the line it will need to be replaced. All the other switches, controls, inputs and outputs sounded fine while I had in service.
This preamp is for sale because I replaced my aging separates with a newer class-D integrated months ago and it is time to let go of the last of the old pieces.
The current tubes are EI. They sound OK but I have no information as to their age or current life expectancy.
I purchased the unit without the original box but have since purchased the appropriate packaging from CJ. I will double box this preamp for shipping.
