Ayre Acoustics Codex (230 volt version for Europe, UK)

For sale is the Ayre Codex. This unit is the 230-volt version suitable for UK and most European countries. Item is currently located in Hong Kong.

There are a number of reviews over the internet so I am not covering the sound quality here. What I like to set out is a candid account of the repair history of the Ayre Codex.

I am the original owner and purchase of the new unit was made in first quarter 2017 from the authorized distributor of Ayre in Hong Kong. Since then it has gone through repair works due mainly to power on failure, details of which I have set out in this discussion thread:

I have not dropped the unit or opened the unit, my best guess is somehow the Ayre Codex has some sub-standard soldering work to begin with. All previous repair works for the unit were carried out by the technician of the authorized distributor of Ayre in Hong Kong. After the last repair, the unit work faultlessly to this day. Conservatively rated 6/10 due to repair history but unit has seen less than a year use.

If you click on the above link, another member in these forums replied in an hour after my original post that his Ayre Codex has also ran into similar problem, so the issue may be more than an isolated incidence, but at least this unit for sale has the issue been fixed. Also, external cosmetics are unblemished.

Owing to past repair history, I am setting the auction starting price at an agreeable level with no reserve. For those who are not concerned of having less than ideal past history, this auction represents an opportunity to get a Ayre Codex at an agreeable price.

I am making the repair history of the unit transparent to clear my conscience, but I am giving you also an additional guarantee that should you spot any reliability issue within 14 days of purchase, you can return the unit to me at your own shipping cost for refund of the unit cost in full.
