The Purcell by dCS is for those who wish to take their original collection of Red Book 16-bit CD's to another level of clarity and refinement.
Military Digital equipment and Pro Audio industry specialist dCS created the Purcell.
In the most simple of terms, the Purcell "increase the sample rate and/or word length of the output from linear PCM digital audio sources up to a maximum sample rate of 192kHz and a word length of 24 bits. This is achieved by using extremely powerful and accurate digital interpolation filters, which yield an output signal having negligible levels of distortion."
Without understanding the astounding math and science behind this whole process, the net result is a device that is almost ethereal in nature, delicately extracting the last ounce of information encoded compact disc.
Along with the Purcell, the Elgar Plus DAC, Verdi Transport and Verona Master Clock were the components that set dCS on the road to become an industry Reference Standard.
