Gently used exaSound e28 mk II with upgraded femto clock and mini-XLR balanced outputs. Both of these are factory upgrades. If you are into multichannel DSD, this is where it's at! Very transparent, relaxed sound. It is a great DAC for not only multichannel, but also normal stereo music as well. Comes with 5 1.5 meter Plussound mini XLR to full-size XLR interconnects. *****Edit: THIS IS NOT THE MKII, but the earlier MKI. Differences between the 2 are extremely minimal. Per exaSound's website: "New Mark II features include auto–power up after sleep and adjustable power down after inactivity, a maximum volume limiter when the output of either DAC is used to directly drive a power amplifier, and MP3Safe™ software protection against clipping caused by faulty or erroneous signal processing and data manipulation. The limiter allows the e22 and e28 to directly drive a power amplifier while protecting loudspeakers from damaging overloads. In addition to the firmware and driver components, the hardware has also been upgraded. New features include a new, more substantial and deeply sculpted front escutcheon, the ability to extinguish the display light via the included IR remote, and a 12V Trigger output for the e28." http://exasound.com/Blog/tabid/74/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/186/exaSound-Audio-Design-Upgrades-Reference-DACs.aspx

Questions for the seller
May I ask why you are selling this item? I have been looking for a multichannel dac that bests my modified Oppo BD105 that does justice to DSD as well as PCM.
Hello, so sorry for the delay getting back yo you on this! This is a trade-in unit from a customer of mine. He upgraded to the newer e38. I've done the comparison between an Oppo 105 and this unit...the exaSound is clearly superior. Also, the ability to browse and control playback with the software of your choice (as opposed to Oppo's somewhat clumsy interface),
I have this great unit also but was thinking of upgrading to the MKii and selling mine to a friend...until i realized yours is the balanced version and i only have RCA inputs into my CJ MET1 preamp. So i can't think of a way i could incorporate this into my system...I doubt they make a "conversion" balanced to unbalanced cable...any idea?
The mk2 does not represent a sonic upgrade to the mk1 e28. For a substantial audio upgrade, look at the e38. Let me know if you'd like more info on the e38. You can order custom cables with mini-XLR on one end, and RCA on the other. I can help with this.
you specify you have the MKII version but the pictures do not show the MKII on the enclosure. Do you have back up for the upgrade to MKII?
I was mistaken...it is a mk 1 edition. I have updated the listing. The differences between the mk1 and mk2 are extremely minimal. From exaSound's website: "New Mark II features include auto–power up after sleep and adjustable power down after inactivity, a maximum volume limiter when the output of either DAC is used to directly drive a power amplifier, and MP3Safe™ software protection against clipping caused by faulty or erroneous signal processing and data manipulation. The limiter allows the e22 and e28 to directly drive a power amplifier while protecting loudspeakers from damaging overloads. In addition to the firmware and driver components, the hardware has also been upgraded. New features include a new, more substantial and deeply sculpted front escutcheon, the ability to extinguish the display light via the included IR remote, and a 12V Trigger output for the e28."
