I am the original owner of this Lampizator Big 7, built to order for me in February 2015. I truly loved the sound of this DAC, and have enjoyed it tremendously (only stopped listening to it when I replaced it with its big brother, the Golden Gate DAC). The Big 7 offers excellent resolution of the recording and venue, and does this all with a very coherent musical presentation - - just a marvelous combination! Read the many reviews and user comments out there and you will get a very accurate picture of its quality. The two Lampi pieces that I have owned now are the very first digital players that compete with my LP rig, which is really saying something, IME.
One very nice feature is the ability to tailor the sound of the DAC a bit via tube rolling across a variety of tube types with a variety of flavors. I found this terrific as I transition each year from my tube amps to my summer time solid state amps - - I could match up a set of tubes that balanced out the virtues of the system to my liking. Quite handy!
I purchased this Big 7 fully loaded, as follows:
Volume Control, 64 steps (with remote)
1 set of RCA inputs (unit can operate as your preamp for DAC + 1 source)
PCM to 384 kHz
DSD to 128x
Inputs: USB, SPDIF, AES/EBU
Jupiter Copper Cast capacitors
Psvane HiFi Series 101D output tubes
With its very high quality volume control feature and its one SE input, I have used it happily as my preamp. In addition to the 101D tubes that came with the DAC, I will include a matched pair of National Union 45's, my favorite alternative to the 101D's as I matched the DAC to various system configurations.
This unit is rated 8 out of 10,and it really is mint, with 3 years of transferable warranty remaining. It has performed flawlessly for me the whole time. It will ship well-packed in the original double cartons.
Check my feedback and buy with confidence. Priced fair to sell. Buyer covers shipping fees, and I will only ship to continental US.
Thanks for looking, and happy listening!
