The Linn Akurate DS/1 Digital Streamer is a single box network streamer with digital to analog conversion provided via analog RCA and XLR outputs, and may be plugged directly into amplifiers with an optional variable digital volume control, or used as a fixed output source device with a preamplifier or integrated amplifier. It also offers an SDPIF output in the form of a 75 ohm BNC type connector.
The custom software filters afforded by the powerful FPGA circuit will ensure pristine playback of digital music files of all types, up to 24 bit/192kHz PCM sample rates. The Wolfson DAC chipset fed by custom Linn software filters, ensures the Akurate DS is among the top performing products in the computer audio arena. This is not the most current version of the analog output board, hence the lower asking price to start.
Linn's unique upgrade approach ensures you won't be left behind when new features or technology become available. For example, Linn's unique Space Optimisation feature allows for optimising your loudspeakers' integration into your room, and it was offered as a free upgrade to existing DS owners.
The Akurate DS is controlled by Linn's own free Kazoo software app for iOS, Android, Mac OSX, or Windows. It beautifully integrates with local stored music content scanned with a UPnP type server software (such as Linn's own Kazoo Server, or DLNA servers often included with most NAS drives), or with streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, and TuneIn Radio. It can also act as an AirPlay receiver on the home network. A second software, Konfig, runs on Mac OSX or Windows and allows for software updates and configuring the various options for the device.
The unit is in the black aluminum finish, in good condition, with a couple of minor scratches on the top (see photos) and a couple of dings towards the right rear of the upper edge of the chassis. The factory box and remote are included.
