Metronome CD 5 DAC

Metronome CD 5 ranks among the very best DACs we have heard to date.  Terrific detail and extension that is a true revelation that lesser DACs can't achieve.  New retail $10,000.  In this price range our favorites are the Bricasti M1 if you prefer a slightly warmer more laid back presentation and the Metronome C5 if you want a bit more dynamics and slightly more forward upfront sound perspective.    
The C5 features two D/A converters using the best 24 bit/192 kHz technology with 32 bit internal processing .  The upsampler and the DA converter are fixed on an independent PCB plugged on the main board which permits easy upgrade.  Each digital inputs uses its own Digital Input Receiver resulting in a lower level of jitter.   
The analog stage includes four operational amplifiers chosen for their sound quality.
The power supply with individual power transformers and completely independent regulation lines for each critical part of the converter- digital input stage, digital upsampling and processing and analog output-provides an interstage RFI/EMI radiation protection to insure a dynamic analog-like sound quality.  Power supply incorporates 3 main toroidal transformers and 12 separate independent regulation lines.  
The USB type B digital output permits direct connection with a computer (PC and Mac) and  accepts high resolution signals such as HD_Master (24 bit/192kHz).
