This is the justly praised Ayre DAC, winner of the Stereophile product of the year award and many other accolades. We have compared it at our store to DACs up to 10K -- it goes head-to-head with any of them. Unlike most DACs, the digital programming is proprietary, designed by Ayre; not an off-the-shelf solution. And the output stages, critical to the sound, have the DNA of Ayre's top preamps. This is a phenomenal piece that truly creates a 3D soundstage, and has the extra magic, particularly around the midband, that we all seek. It's a hard to top DAC from anything with a USB output.
