Many find the Berkeley Alpha USB one of the best USB-to-SPDIF converters around. I'm the original owner of this one, and I think it's great. But now that my digital source has more types of outputs than just USB (an Aurender N10 now), I don't need the Berkeley Alpha USB unit as much.
So I'm selling it. Near perfect condition. Some highlights:
* outputs: coaxial SPDIF - BNC (75Ω) or balanced AES - XLR (110Ω)
* outputs are switch selectable
* green indicates USB lock, amber indicates standby
* supported sampling rates: 44.1kHz to 192kHz
* supported word lengths: up to 24-bit
In addition to the Berkeley's contribution to rich and clear sound quality, one really nice feature of the Berkeley that I loved to use is this: You can turn one USB output from whatever device you use as a music server into two outputs. That could be useful if you want to feed the music to two separate DACs -- with this Berkeley unit in between -- or if you want to feed a single DAC's separate inputs to see how that plays out.
