Excellent condition, except some very light "rub" marks on the top black cover (presumably from the original owner placing other components on top and possibly moving around). The marks are not scratches in the surface that show up. You have to look down at a close distance, at a certain angle in the light to really see them. Those marks won't show up in any of the pictures. Can't really see the marks from normal angles, even close up. Shouldn't be a problem to most. Otherwise, this DAC is functionally and cosmetically like new. Front face is perfect. Back is also in excellent condition. I'm conservatively rating as 8/10 due to the faint marks on top cover.
The DAC comes with a printed copy of the user manual (which can be found online), a shrink wrapped CD for the user manual, an Apple remote control, and the basic power cord. The Apple remote battery died, so this will need to be replaced (I don't have any spares for that size right now).
I purchased this DAC for a trial, and used it about 2 weeks. It has been sitting in storage since then, waiting to be sold.
If you are looking at this product, you probably know most of the features. But I'll give a few highlights. This unit has a reference quality integrated volume control (in analog domain, using sophisticated resistor networks). Therefore, you could use this without a separate preamp for the most clarity. In addition, the unit has 2 analog inputs, which do not get digitized into the digital domain. When selected, the analog inputs get passed through the unit (digital section turned off), directly to the volume control. Therefore, this unit can work perfectly for the minimalist system for both analog and digital inputs (thus saving the cost of a reference grade preamp). This is what makes this unit unique, and an overall good deal. There is also a handy chassis ground connection to help eliminate ground loops.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I'm taking a loss for what I paid for it (basically for a home trial). I got it from a dealer, who got it from the original owner as a trade in. That dealer compared this DAC to top tier Berkeley DAC, Meitner, PS Audio, Total DAC, MSB, Emm, etc, etc. This is the best DAC he said he ever heard. After hearing this DAC, he said he stopped being a distributor for Berkeley, and he has ordered a higher up DAC in the VItus line for demo purposes (the reason he was selling this unit).
